Release detail

Preview build 0.1.0

The first public-quality release surface for Soup, establishing packaging, notes, and a clean manual download path.

Overview

Soup is a minimal local-first desktop editor and note workspace designed for technical users who want a quieter toolchain.

This release line establishes the delivery baseline: typed release metadata, clear packaging status, and platform guidance without marketing noise.

Highlights

  • Local-first workspace model with folder-based state.
  • Dark-first interface aligned to Soulstack’s low-chrome visual system.
  • Windows packaging prepared through both NSIS and MSI installers.
  • Manual upgrade path first, with no auto-update complexity layered in prematurely.

Packaging and delivery

  • Initial Windows packaging output established with both EXE and MSI installer formats.
  • Release metadata and changelog structure made explicit so future releases can be published without redesigning the download surface.

Product direction

  • Soup remains intentionally local first, with normal files as the source of truth.
  • The desktop application prioritises calm, low-chrome focus over feature sprawl.

Platform status

  • Windows packaging is prepared for first public distribution.
  • macOS and Linux remain in the release plan and are represented transparently here instead of being implied prematurely.
