What changed in 0.1.0

First preview release of Soup for Windows, with both EXE and MSI installers.

Overview

Soup is a minimal local-first desktop editor and note workspace designed for technical users who want a quieter toolchain.

This release provides the initial Windows installers and lays out platform support plans for macOS and Linux.

Highlights

  • Local-first workspace model with folder-based state.
  • Dark-first interface with minimal chrome.
  • Windows packaging through both NSIS and MSI installers.
  • Manual upgrade path. No premature auto-update complexity.

Packaging and delivery

  • Initial Windows packaging with both EXE and MSI installer formats.
  • Structured changelog and release notes for every version going forward.

Product direction

  • Soup is local first. Your files and folders are the source of truth.
  • The desktop application favours focus and simplicity over feature sprawl.

Platform status

  • Windows packaging is ready for first public distribution.
  • macOS and Linux builds are planned.
